GCMS-SNIFF Data Processing - AspectAnalyzer Plug-in for AnalyzerPro
23rd April 2008 AspectAnalyzer is the latest plug-in application to AnalyzerPro. Developed for use in the flavour and fragrance industries where an analog channel is triggered manually to record the elution of fragrant components from a GC column. This is then integrated with the MS data to provide the GC/MS-SNIFF analysis. It may also be used where an FID detector has been added to a GC/MS or an UV detector to a LC/MS system. Purity analysis based on GC-FID and LC-UV data can be integrated into the MS acquisition for pharmaceutical analysis and synthetic chemistry. Quantitative data can be derived from the UV or FID data channel, including the use of internal standards and this is aligned with the qualitative information provided by the relevant MS analysis. Combined with the unique algorithm used in AnalyzerPro for the data mining of MS data, AspectAnalyzer is a powerful addition to integrated data processing. Judith van den Berg from the Analysis Department at Cosun Food Technology Centre in the Netherlands uses AspectAnalyzer for the analysis of flavours. "With AspectAnalyzer, we are able to qualify and semi-quantify components with the MS and/or the FID signal. Before AspectAnalyzer, this was a huge job because of the complexity of flavours." Data file formats from the major MS vendors, such as Agilent, ThermoFisher and Waters are supported as well as generic formats such a netCDF and a number of smaller and legacy data system formats. This allows the integration of a typical MS laboratory onto a single data processing platform.
